Meet soprano, Kirsten C. Kunkle who plays The Mother in our Jan 6th, Amahl and the Night Visitors! You may recognize Kirsten from our 2015 production of “The Magic Flute” where she played the 1st Lady. That same year she also covered Rosalinda in “Die Fledermaus.”
This is her fifth time playing The Mother in "Amahl and the Night Visitors," but she’s very excited to be performing the role for the first time with DVOC. When we asked her why she wanted to play this roll Kirsten replied “The Mother embodies a relatable and sympathetic character, even though she could also be considered the villain for trying to steal the gold. I appreciate how she is so multifaceted and how important her child's well being is to her. ” Kirsten has sung great works in many wonderful places, but one of her current favorite projects is co-founding (with fellow DVOC soprano Marisa Robinson) Wilmington Concert Opera and serving as the artistic director. Come see Kirsten C. Kunkle as The Mother in our 2018 production of Amahl and the Night Visitors on Saturday, January 6th at 4pm and 7pm at Venice Island Performing Arts and Recreation Center in Manayunk.
